Barney’s Fundraiser

March 29th, 2008

In February 2008, Student Refugee Alliance hosted its first fund-raising event at Barney’s Department store in New York City, raising more than $12,000 from the donations of the attending guests and the event’s silent auction. The event, which was co-sponsered by theUnited Nations-High Commision on Refugees (UNHCR) was enjoyed by over 75 people, including several honored guests who spoke personally of the experiences as refugees.

Thank you to all who supported us and our cause!

We would love to hear from you here.

Greetings one and all:

February 1st, 2008

Thank you all for checking out the first of what is to be many posts on our blog. Although there is much to talk about this post is going to focus on the event at hand, Shop Your Heart Out for Refugees.

Shop Your Heart Out for Refugees is just around the corner, taking place on Friday February 8th at Barney’s in New York City. It kicks off at 6:30 PM and lasts until 8:30 PM, the minimum donation to attend is $150.

A special thanks to Barneys, without them this event would not be possible! Their wonderful staff will be present all throughout the evening to help you with picking out the best suit for you along with delicious international food and drink.

There will also be a guest of honor at this event, Sebastian, who will be sharing his story of his journey to America. Sebastian is a refugee from Zimbabwe who spent four years of his life in a refugee camp.

We are looking forward to all of you showing up and thank you once again for your continued support. Any difference we can make in the lives of the less fortunate is a positive one.
